Vocal Physiotherapy
What is Vocal Physiotherapy?

Just like standard physiotherapy, our vocal therapist will conduct a thorough assessment of the core drivers to your discomfort, fatigue, muscle tension, joint movement and provide high quality manual therapy to relieve tension and improve mobility. Following assessment they will provide education and exercises to assist with building and maintaining control and strength of the necessary structures to ensure longevity of your results.

It is important to note that vocal physiotherapy is part of a multidisciplinary approach to voice management. After your assessment and treatment our physiotherapist will be able to advise whether you require other interventions to assist with your recovery. This may include Speech Pathology, Voice Coaches, and ENT specialists; as certain conditions require input and guidance from these professionals.

What can I expect in my assessment and treatment?

Vocal physiotherapy consists of manual therapy techniques to assist in supporting the function of the larynx, head, neck, and torso. Voice production is a complex process involving synergy of many systems and functions. Like many areas of our body, our voice can be impacted by physical trauma, overuse, poor posture, occupational demands, illness and a variety of other circumstances. Vocal physiotherapy can assist with improving the musculoskeletal components of voice production including posture, muscle tension, alignment, neuromuscular patterning, breathing, strength and conditioning, joint mobility and more.
